Dean & St. Mary's Neuroscience services encompass a full array of medical, surgical, diagnostic, inpatient and outpatient neurological services.

Dean & St. Mary's neurologists and neurosurgeons provide diagnosis and medical and surgical treatment for adults, infants and children. They treat a variety of disorders including stroke, seizures, movement disorders, back and neck problems, brain tumors, aneurysms, and other diseases or disorders of the brain, spinal cord and entire nervous system.

Dean & St. Mary's Stroke Center provides the full range of services designed to improve outcomes for patients and families who are experiencing, or have experienced, a stroke. A dedicated center provides an approach to rapid assessment, diagnostic evaluation, acute management, and rehabilitative efforts to meet the needs of every patient who comes to us for care. Click here for more information about the Stroke Center.

The Adult center is located in a recently remodeled section of St. Mary's. Nurses dedicated to the care of patients with neurologic disorders staff the 24-bed nursing care unit for patients requiring inpatient medical or post-surgical care.

St. Mary's pediatric department, pediatric intensive care unit, and neonatal intensive care unit provide skilled care for infants and children with neurologic disorders. In-hospital pediatric intensivists (M.D.) oversee the care of children in the pediatric intensive care unit.

Occupational, physical, and speech therapists join social workers, nurses and physicians in planning and implementing patient care and in planning for care after discharge from the hospital. A rehab team coordinates the care and rehabilitation plan of stroke patients.

Outpatient services include EEG, EMG, vascular doppler studies, sleep studies, and seizure monitoring. The neuroscience center's services are augmented by the services of St. Mary's Medical Laboratory, St. Mary's Medical Imaging Department and the Turville Bay MRI Center. Combined, these services provide laboratory testing and diagnostic scanning and imaging for both inpatients and outpatients.

Dean & St. Mary's neurologists and neurosurgeons also provide outreach consultative services to outlying hospitals and clinics throughout southern Wisconsin, including the Dean & St. Mary's Primary Care Clinics.
