"Nobody lives for the day more than we do." That's how manager Jim Penczykowski sums up his close-knit, gentle community at St. Mary's Adult Day Health Center. Staff members are more like family and volunteers say they get more than they give. It's the kind of place some clients build a life around. In this video, see the moments of fun and friendship that make up each day.

Partners in Health Care

Volunteers share a vital role in the mission of St. Mary's Hospital. They support the hospital in a commitment to provide a full range of health services with high quality care in accord with the mission of SSM Health Care and the Franciscan Sisters of Mary.

Volunteers make a difference through services that help patients, visitors, and employees within the hospital. We hope you will join us as a volunteer and share your time and talents, develop new skills, learn about the health care profession and meet new people while serving the community.

VolunteersRewards of Volunteering

Volunteering is more than an opportunity to help others. It is:

  • Meeting new people
  • Giving of time and talent
  • Personal growth and satisfaction
  • Being active and useful
  • Exploring health care careers
  • Assisting patients, visitors and employees
  • Flexible schedules, free parking and meal discounts
  • Free flu vaccinations and health screenings
  • Enjoyment and a sense of accomplishment

The rewards are many!

An interview, health screening and orientation program are required for all volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a Volunteer or Auxiliary member, please contact the Volunteer Services Department at 258-6640 for an appointment.
