For many people, a battle with cancer is a terrifying and isolating experience. Survivors often say they felt as if their bodies had betrayed them.
Roughly one in eight women will receive a breast cancer diagnosis at some point in their lives. And in May 2009, Emilie, a director at St. Mary's, found herself included in that one in eight.
Rather than let her diagnosis get her down, Emilie has decided to fight back. When most would choose rest and retreat from the world, Emilie hired a trainer at her gym to get her in shape for the Sugen G. Komen Race for the Cure this June.
And on February 15, 2010, in the hopes of helping other women, she's opening up and sharing her story. That’s when SSM Health Care will launch a blog featuring Emilie the accomplished writer.
Anyone can read about Emilie’s cancer journey, the progress she’s made and ask her questions.
