Dean Health Systems and SSM Health Care are an important step closer to becoming one organization. Last night, more than 97 percent of the Dean physician shareholders voted in favor of the deal which would merge Dean into SSM. In April, SSM Health Care and Dean Health Systems signed an agreement under which the physician-owned Dean and its subsidiaries would become part of SSM Health Care.
Now that the Dean physician shareholders have approved the merger, approval is next required by the Wisconsin Insurance Office of the Commissioner of Insurance and other regulatory agencies, which is expected to occur by late summer.
A transition team will next begin working out the details of the Dean Health Systems and SSM Health Care integration plan. Terms of the deal will not be disclosed.
