With Thanks and Best Wishes to Our Sisters
For nearly a century, religious sisters have shaped the compassionate care of St. Mary’s Hospital.
In the fall of 1910, the first two arrived in Madison to establish a "sisters’ hospital," which opened in 1912. Today, St. Mary’s has grown in size and expertise to serve all of south-central Wisconsin, with special emphasis on our community.
As the last two sisters embark on a new journey in St. Louis—100 years after the founders arrived—we honor the service of all 168 sisters from the order now known as the Franciscan Sisters of Mary, who have built our healing ministry. We are well-prepared to serve and partner with generations to come.
