It started with a hospital orderly…
The Meicher family has been serving St. Mary’s patients since the early 1900s when Charles found work as an orderly at the hospital. He met his wife Margaret there and years later their four sons served mass together in the hospital chapel.
The oldest, Joseph, served in WW II and eventually returned to St. Mary’s—this time to work the switchboard. Like his father, Joseph met his future wife Frances at St. Mary’s. Their six children and several grandchildren also have worked there.
Across four generations, seventeen members of the Meicher family have provided compassion and expertise to patients at St. Mary’s.
